ACADEMIC CHANGES IN 2023

 

Well if I had the chance to change some things of my career it would be amazing!

I would start with the length of it, I think it shouldn´t be longer than four and a half years, because the longer it lasts, is more the people that may abandon for work needs, personal or financial problems. Furthermore, I believe that many of the courses taught are not entirely necessary, several teach things that are not used again in the career or at work. Also, the prerequisites between subjects should be reevaluated, since this delays a lot when you fail something, and many times they are not necessary for the following contents, for example electromagnetism, which is a prerequisite for cellular physiology and is not even useful to understand the new subject.

Apart from this, I would love to see more practical or demonstrative teaching in laboratories, since I think there are few laboratories in the career.

Also the construction of new and bigger rooms with good distribution would also be useful, because I have been in classes locked in a room with 150 people all together, without ventilation and without exit corridors in case of an emergency.

And as a final suggestion, I would like to highlight the courses of physiology, because it seems to me very useful to be in constant evaluations that means the total percentage of the final grade, since it generates a healthier habit of study, with better control of time, and less stress, so it would be wonderful if it were applied in other subjects.
